Another way to visit: Unusual circuits to discover a rich heritage!

Maison de Bois In 2011, and for the first time, The Tourism Office of Mâcon offers you a new way to discover the city. From June to September, enter in the heart of the historical heritage of the Mâconnais. Follow circuits which mixes treasure and scavenger hunt, to find secrets and hided places.

Take part in a cultural and unusual visit; to share a great adventure in family, with friends… Find caches, follow clues and GPS signs, and find the key to riddles to go to different sites in purchase of the treasure.

This leisure activity is enjoyed by people from all age groups, curious by nature and eager for adventure. Inspired by GEOCACHING; Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, in nature, city… Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, curious by nature and eager for adventure.

The "Treasure": in its simplest form, a cache contains a logbook for you to sign. Caches may also contain items for trade, but the journey in discovering secrets and caches is often the greatest reward.

How to take part in the adventure?

Collect for free on this website the document with all the riddles and clues. A map is necessary and available on the website.
Go to the starting point to begin the adventure by looking at the riddle and trying to unravel it.
After decrypted it join the next point, and so on… until the final step and the treasure.

Rely on your eyes rather than your GPS when you arrive near the location of a cache. Remember, caches are hidden in plain sight and never buried, but they are often very cleverly camouflaged.

Circuits

Mâcon, historical treasure

The city of Mâcon is a real puzzle, mixing pieces of history and striking various architectural styles within the same neighborhood, same building. With this circuit come to grips the flanges of the small and the great history of our city at the gates of the sun. Enjoy walking trough the colorful and bloomed streets in search of a cache well guarded, so that the wonders are revealed.

The solution of the puzzle gives you a place to join. Help you follow a map to the right direction

On this tour, you would solve 13 puzzles to reach the location of the cache.
The GPS is not indispensable; the course can be practicable without this one by finding meanings of clues and the help of a map.

Before leaving here are some rules to respect:

Insure together the perpetuity of the course: watch to be discreet when you discover a cache, especially if the hiding place is frequented.
If you take something from the cache, leave something of equal or greater value. A container does not have to contain items such as food, explosives, knives, drugs or alcohol. Cache contents should be family friendly.
You are invited to comment on your visit in the logbook present in the cache. Sharing experiences would not be thereal treasure?
When you leave the last site don't forget to leave the cache as you found it.
